How to play Table Tennis

Bring your attention to one round of Table Tennis. Reach eleven points with a two-point lead. Use the example below to understand a decision. Check the rule that explains your first action. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

rally/service model, win-by-two and alternating deuce service.

Make the controls familiar

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Keep the objective visible.

Your goal

Reach eleven points with a two-point lead. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

Step by step

  1. Serve.
  2. Move the lower paddle under the ball.
  3. Hit after the bounce near your baseline.
  4. A missed return gives a point.

Controls

Pointer/paddle buttons; Hit / return; Space serves or hits. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. A new-round button replaces the current round.

A useful example

An early hit is rejected; wait while positioning the paddle. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Keep the controls nearby.

Watch out for this

The ball-flight model is timing-based, not full tournament physics. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
