How to play Word Deduction

Take a moment with Word Deduction before moving to another game. Guess the five-letter answer in six attempts. Use the example below to understand a decision. Choose a comfortable screen position before beginning. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Guess a five-letter answer from the included collection. Entries must contain five letters; accepted guesses are not checked against a complete dictionary.

Keep the aim in sight

Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Guess the five-letter answer in six attempts. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Take a moment to understand the current position.

Step by step

  1. Enter five letters.
  2. Green marks the correct position; gold marks an available copy elsewhere.
  3. Grey means no matching unused copy.
  4. Use the feedback to solve.

Controls

Type a guess and press Check guess or Enter. Use the control method described here for this activity. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

A useful example

An answer containing one E can award only one positive E mark in a guess containing two. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Notice the change in the playing area.

Watch out for this

Repeated letters do not imply unlimited copies in the answer. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
