How to play Memory Pairs

Start Memory Pairs by looking at the playing area and its controls. Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Check the rule that explains your first action. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

A careful first round

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Your goal

Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Take a moment to understand the current position.

Step by step

  1. Turn over any face-down card.
  2. Choose a second card. Equal symbols stay visible.
  3. Unequal cards turn back after a short pause.
  4. Continue until every pair is visible.

Controls

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Use one clear input at a time.

A useful example

Seeing a star at the top left and another star in the bottom row gives you a matching pair on a later turn. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Take a moment to compare.

Watch out for this

You cannot turn a third card while a mismatched pair is still being shown. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
